We drove again, but just drove directly down instead of going through Salt Lake. The weather was good leaving town, but by about the time we got to Twin Falls it was horrible. Snow and ice. Cars could only go about 30 miles an hour. It was a disaster. It continued on passed the Nevada border, but it cleared up as we got a little more south.
We got there and checked into our room. We stayed the same place we did last year.....good memories. After we got settled in and cleaned up a little bit we went and walked around. Las Vegas is pretty much the same every time. Maybe a new building or something, but a lot of the same thing. We cruised around the MGM Grand and New York New York. We were hungry so we grabbed a sandwich at New York style deli in the casino. Of course you can't be in Vegas and not play a slot or two, so we settled down and played for a bit before we decided it was time to head back and get some sleep.
On the second day there we were awake super early- they're in the Pacific time zone which is technically an hour behind us. I don't know if our room was directly above the restaurant or what, but we could smell bacon and eggs wafting into our room like someone was outside the door cooking it. As soon as we could, we made our way downstairs to have breakfast and hit the streets.
We went through the Bellagio and tried to make our over to Caesar's Palace via the little cat walk things, at this point we hadn't been outside. In the Bellagio, blocking the doors to the walkways were employees who greeting people and kindly turning them around. They explained if you went down the stairs and out this way there would be other employees directing you where to go. We head over and out the way they want us to and when we get outside it's like entering a movie scene. The streets are empty of cars, there is police crime scene tape all over the place and there and cops and reporters milling around about 10 cop cars blocking the streets. The foot traffic was directed basically right by and through it. Louis and I wondered what was going on, but didn't think a ton about it. We got over to the Forum shops and did some shopping, had some lunch, and cruised around the casinos and played a slot or two before heading back to the room. On our way back we heard some dude on his phone saying how somebody hot been shot on the strip. It all made sense- we decided to google it when we got back. AND actually it turned out to be a crazy story. It involved an aspiring rapper named Kenny Klutch, a meserati, a range rover, shots being fired, a multiple car accident, a taxi basically blowing up, and all sorts of stuff. It was nuts.
After we chilled at the room for a bit we went down to a local supermarket- Vons, and bought some alcohol. Then we headed over to In & Out. It was delicious. I soooo wish we had one here. I don't know why we don't. It would do awesome..
Anyways, we went back had some drinks, and went out and played some slots. We just chilled, cruising around the rest of the night.
Friday we went out shopping again. I was on a mission to get a new outfit. BUT...I didn't. Basically because I pretty much HATE todays style. I thinks its ok for a child, but not for me. Granted, there has been one or two things I have stepped out of my little black box for- but not much. bah hum bug, I'm totally becoming an old lady. After perusing for what seemed like hours we gave up. We had some lunch and headed back to get ready and put on something that I had brought with with me...waawaaa. :)
We had made reservations for dinner at Benihana. We both love the hibachi and figured it was bound to be good in Las Vegas. PLUS it was the restaurant that grandfathered all the rest of them. I had been to one before in San Francisco, and it was good. We were stoked. We made our way down there, it is down in the Hilton LV, so we took the tram thing, but it is basically the last stop. Once we got there and got in though it was totally worth it. The atmosphere was crazy. It was all dark and mysterious. Waterfalls and stuff. Little huts set around with couches for people to sit in while you were waiting for your table. It was nice.
We were taken to our table and it was pretty much like any other teppanyaki place at that point. The food was OK, but in all honesty, we both prefer Kyoto here in Boise. It was still good, and the experience was fabulous.
After dinner, we had some drinks, played some slots and walked the strip like hooligans. It was fun. :)
Saturday was our last day in Vegas. We didn't have anything big planned, just kinda wanted to go and see the casinos we hadnt made it down to yet.
OK....so here's all the pictures....
