Valentine's Day

I love Valentine's Day, and any other holiday basically, so I decorated the house with pink and red, hearts and cupids, and pretty lace and frilly things all over. I like the change around the house, plus I think it adds a bit of sweet cuteness in an otherwise semi-depressing month. I get it that we don't, or at least shouldn't, NEED a dedicated day to tell or show someone you love them, but what's wrong with a day dedicated to your lover? A day to do something extra special, a day you share with the rest of the world- or at least modernized America? :) - ironic, I know.
ANYWAYS.....

Valentine's Day was pretty mellow around the house this year. Louis and I have plans to leave for Las Vegas in less than a week, so we opted to not make a huge ordeal or spend a bunch of money on it. While we decided to not get each other any presents, he kinda went ahead and did it anyway. He made me a leather box that he lined with velvet. He drew and carved the designs in the leather, and hand dyed it.  It's gorgeous. I love it super lots. I, in return, stuck closer to my end of the bargain- insert sheepish grin here- and made him a candy bar card, basically just so he would have at least a little something. A candy bar card for those of you who don't know is a card you make with candy bars telling a story. Mine for example had the following candy on it: hot tamales, skor, payday, whatchamacallit, snickers, kisses, spree, now & later, rocky road, mounds, milky way, good & plenty, 100 Grand, big hunk, life savers, and a king size tootsie roll. Here is the story that I came up with:
Babe,
You are such a big hunk. When I got you, it was like a payday, like winning a 100 Grand. Even though it's been a rocky road, you've been my life saver. I want to give you good & plenty of my kisses. You're my hot tamale, and I snicker when I think about skoring. I want your tootsie roll to meet my mounds and my milky way, so we go on a spree doing whatchamacallit, plenty- both now & later.

Of course, the girls also got a little something. We got them each a little gift bag and filled with a box of chocolates, lots of other candy, a stuffed animal, and all sorts of other little stuff. They loved it. I don't think they really care a whole lot about what's in the bag, they are just enthralled with the fact that they got a bag full of stuff for them to go through. They were all over it like little monkeys.

That pretty much sums up Valentine's Day for the year 2013, not too shabby. :)
