Seattle: Day I

We decided it was time for a road trip, and since my birthday was coming up, we might as well take advantage of two opportunities and make the best of it. We decided to go to Seattle- it's fairly close, so it is easy to get there, plus Louis lived there for basically 10 years, so he is quite familiar with the lay of the land :), and other than just to stop over for an hour or two a couple times, I had never really been to Seattle before.  Louis took over- he planned the whole trip out without me knowing anything. I knew we left on Thursday and came home Sunday, but that was it. I have to be honest, I was anxious about it. I have never been on a vacation that I didn't plan every last detail of.

We drove because we like to. We like the time it takes to get there so we can just chill together and talk and just have fun. Some of the funniest/craziest times of our trips have been on the drive. We dropped the girls off at school and came home and loaded our bags into the car and were out. It was about 9:30 by the time we took off- not too bad. We drove over to Pendleton and then north from there. We got into the Seattle area about 4:30 or so. You gain an hour because you enter the Pacific time zone which helps on the drive there.

We headed to Mukilteo. Mukilteo has ferry docks that head over to Whidbey Island, it's roughly about 20 miles outside of Seattle. It's beautiful- green and lush hills with the water, lots of trees.

Louis got a suite at the Silver Cloud Inn, so we checked in and headed up to our room. When he opened the door, and we went in I was amazed. The room was beautiful and the view was breathtaking.  There were two rooms- the first had the bathroom and the bed,  a TV, that type of thing. The second room had another TV, couch, fireplace, fridge/microwave kitchen type area, and double french doors that opened up right to the ocean, literally like 20 feet away. The ferry docks were right beside us with ferrys coming and going all the time. It was the nicest room I have ever stayed in. It was raining out, so we would open the french doors and listen to the rain and the ocean. The fireplace was going so it was nice and warm and super cozy .....awesome.

After hanging out in the room for a little while we went down and headed to the beach. There is a little park with swings that are pretty much on the water, so we cruised over there and swung for a while. When we we done swinging we went for a walk down the beach a little ways. Someone had lit a bonfire and left it, so we stopped and stared at the fire for awhile. By that point I was starving and we were looking rough after driving all day so it was time to go back to the room and shower and clean up. We went to the Alderwood mall once we were defunked and ate at Panera. I love that place and was looking forward to it, then to satisfy Louis' craving we went to a local doughnut shop he used to frequent called Henry's Donuts. It was awesome. Fat and satisfied we went back to the room to chill and admire our surroundings for the rest of the night.

On our way....

The view of the ferrys coming and going right by our hotel room.
