Our First Contender

Louis and I were discussing an interesting factoid we read the other day....most people buy one of the first three homes they look at.  We have decided we are NOT going to be those people. We are going to look at no less than 10 houses prior to deciding on the ONE.....

BUT THEN.....
We went and looked at this house on Sunday.  At first sight, I was NOT impressed.  These colonial facades have always been more of Louis' type thing than mine.  It looks similar to his house in Seattle, so perhaps a comfort level for him there, but for me, it almost looked dated...

This house was built by a really great builder, Ted Mason, and only 4-5 years ago, believe it or not...
A few specs about this baby before we walk through the inside together:
  • 4 bedroom/2.5 bath
  • 2372 sq feet
  • slab granite counters
  • premium hardwood flooring
  • 4 fire places
  • customs build ins throughout
  • views of the mountains and bogus
  • great community, walking paths, a dog park and community garden
Here is a link for all your viewing pleasure: House Number 1
And here are a few photos from the listing for you to take a peak at-
The view from the kitchen looking into the family room- 1 of the 4 fireplaces. Great open floor plan.  Den/Living room with sliding doors, which can be left open for a totally open and airy feeling or closed off to make a den or office area.

Out of order here, sorry! This is the view of Bogus (on a clear  day) from the master bed

The kitchen! My domain!!!  Really nice workable kitchen.  I love the white cabinetry.  I'm having a really hard time finding houses that aren't just wood grain over load.  Wood cupboards, wood floors- different colors and grains?!?!  Not for me- its like wearing a denim shirt and denim pants, together, but different shades of denim...no thank you! Ideally I would stain the floors a darker color and leave the french white cabinets.

But look at how nice this kitchen is!!!

As you come in the front door to the left is an office/den area, with double sliding doors. Fireplace 2/4

This is the room to the right as you come in the front door- also seen in the first photo, opening up into the family room/dining/kitchen area. Fireplace 3/4

This view is basically right in the front door- one little room and fireplace to the right (looking into the room in this photo), straight ahead into the kitchen area, and another room to the left (stading in the door way of this room in this photo). Half Bath opposite the little fairy door

Loft area at the top of the stairs. Custom build in shelving on both sides of the storage closet plus one of the 2 built in desks nooks

Upstairs laundry room. Score! Who wants to lug clothing up and dawn stairs? Plus the sink and the window in the laundry room.  Sometimes its the small things...like Hemingway- the dog.  Notice the picture, they have a super old little boston terrier named Hemingway who is blind.  If she came with the house, Id be sold! :)

OK guys...the master bedroom! First of all- the fireplace...number 4/4. Awesome! Second, the inset ceiling and recessed canned lighting. Love it!

Master bath. Walk in shower.  Only down side- no tub in the master.  The other upstairs bathroom does have an oversize tub to take a bath in, but it would be nice to have one in our room.

So there it is...house number one.  We have a couple others to go look at this week/weekend.  This is has been reduced in price 2-3 times in the 2 months its been on the market.  The owners are moving to Vietnam, and while still a bit over priced probably, its at the top of my comfort range of home prices. If it would come down another 20-30k that would be AWESOME! Patience grasshopper..... :)

Anyways, we're both getting really REALLY excited and cant wait to share more with you guys as they come!
