Happy Thanksgiving and the 16 week mark

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you out here.  This year the Provost family thanksgiving was a bit different than our typical affair.  First of all, the girls are in Tahoe.  That's not unusual, but what is unusual, is the fact that they missed our annual thanksgiving feast this year.  We had our turkey dinner yesterday and they were already gone by that point.  My parents are also gone- they went to Montana to have Thanksgiving with my step brother.  Another most unusual thing is the fact that my sister Tiffany and her son Isaiah have been living with us for the past month or so, so they joined us this year. So all in all it was Louis, Tiff, Isaiah and me and Tater-Tot.

Just because it was just the four of us didn't mean we had any less food.  Our feast this year included the same things it always does- turkey, ham, mashed potatoes w/ gravy, stuffing,  sweet potato casserole and of course all the cold salads and pies and etc.  By the time it was all said and done- I had prepared almost 25 different dishes.....for four people.  We will have leftovers for days!

I have to work today, so that was the biggest reason for the moving of our feast, but it was pretty nice to get it all over and out of the way.

On another note, today marks the 16th week of pregnancy! We're already almost half way done! Woohoo!!  I'm still getting nauseated and vomiting every now and then but my biggest issue right now is nasal congestion and headaches.  They're both driving me crazy!!  Oh well!  Our next appointment is the anatomical screening ultrasound, so we are really looking forward to that.  We already know the gender, which was always one of the biggest things I looked forward to, but I am really anxious to get see him.  Our first ultrasound was at 8 weeks so he just looked like a little blob, so this one he actually looks like a little baby so thats always fun.

We've already began working on his nursery.  we got his crib and changing table/dresser and all of his bedding, we are just waiting to get the walls painted prior to getting everything all set up.  That's been fun though.  Once we get it all done we will share some pictures.

Other than that I think it's all I got for now!

Taetum is 15 weeks along

Last Thursday was Tater Tots 15 week mark.  He's gotten so big! He's about the size of a large navel orange in there and I've been able to feel him rocking' n' rollin' in there for at least a week now.

We went to the doctor yesterday and got to hear his little heart beat again. Still pretty quick- in the 150 range, which according to the old wives tales is indicative of a female, but we all know Baby Winskie is a Boy! :)

We've made it to the 2nd trimester!

Yay!!! Baby Taetum and I have made it to the second trimester!  All of his essential systems have been developed and now they continue to grow and practice working.

Hoping our 2nd trimester is smooth sailing!!

We’ve named the baby....

After very little deliberation we have chosen a name for the baby. We actually knew his name weeks ago but wanted to make sure it was a boy and all that jazz prior to sharing. So without further ado-
His name is Taetum James Provost. :)

Baby Boy P is 13 weeks along!

While baby’s eyes have arrived, they’re not open. Her eyelids are fused shut to protect tiny peepers as they continue to develop.
The promise of laughter, cries and very first words start now with the formation of vocal cords.
That big baby head is getting more in balance with the rest of the body. Right now, her head is about half the size of her total frame.

Fetal Growth Rates

What's up with your baby? Well, besides being as large as a peach now, that head of hers is now about half the size of her crown-to-rump length (that's one reason why your little peach looks more like an alien from outer space at this point). By the time you give birth, her body will catch up, measuring three-quarters of her total size.
But don't compare your fetus with the fetus next door. Starting in the next week or so, babies begin growing at different paces, some faster than others, some more slowly, though they all follow the same developmental path.

Baby's Intestines & Vocal Cords Are Developing

What else is going on in there? At 13 weeks pregnant, tiny bones are beginning to form in her arms and legs. Because she can move them in a jerky fashion, she may be able to get her thumb into her mouth (a habit that may come in handy for self-soothing when she's a newborn).
Your baby's intestines are also in for some big changes. Up 'til this point, they've been growing in a cavity inside the umbilical cord, but now they're moving to their permanent (and more conveniently located) address, in your baby's abdomen. And to serve your growing fetus' needs, the placenta is also growing, eventually weighing one to two pounds at birth (something else you'll soon be able to blame your weight gain on!).
Also developing this week: your baby's vocal cords (the first step toward saying, "I love you, Mommy!"). Because sound can't travel through your uterus, you won't be able to hear any sounds or cries just yet, but you can bet those vocal cords will get a good workout once she's born.
My symptoms so far:
  • mild vomiting persists. usually once or twice a week
  • headaches- almost every day
  • breast tenderness
  • weight gain- finally!!!

We got the Harmony Results back-

First and foremost baby is healthy. Very low chance of chromosomal abnormality as far as trisomies 13, 18 and 23.
So that’s great news.
Secondly- we found out we’re having a baby BOY!!! :)
