So after a bit of discussion, Louis and I have both decided we are going to go vegetarian-again. He was vegetarian for about ten years when he was with his first wife, and I have been vegetarian before several times, I've just never lasted more than about three months. I'm a sucker for a good piece of prime rib and I love me some bacon. My problem is that in order to eat animals, you have to kill them, that is my problem...not the taste. I honestly don't have a problem with people eating meat, its just not for me, or us, I guess at this point. Rachel, Louis' daughter is vegetarian, she has never had a piece of meat in her life. I'm not going to go extreme- milk, eggs, cheese, butter and things like that. I don't even really have a problem with eating marshmallows or jello, things with gelatin. I am mostly focused on not eating meat, meat broths, etc.
It's nice because there are so many options these days. There is a company called Morning Star Farms and they make all sorts of meat substitution products. Most, if not all soy based, but they have crumbles that are used in place of ground beef and you cant' even tell the difference especially once you put them in something like spaghetti, tacos, sloppy joes. They also have "chicken" nuggets and patties, riblets, veggie burgers and stuff. Louis really likes a product by the name of Quorn, you can find it at whole foods. It does not contain any soy, which is good, too much soy isn't good for you either, so it's nice to have a few different products to chose from. It's nice because the Morningstar farms is a bit cheaper and can be found basically everywhere- even ghetto Wal-Mart has Morningstar Farms products....( on a side note here..I can proudly say I haven't stepped foot in a walmart in literally almost 2 years!!!)
Anyways, we are on day three here and feeling great. I've literally gone down almost 5 pounds in three days. I guess that's what happens when you live on fast food, and stop eating grease for every meal!!!
