I love Valentine's Day. It's
almost my favorite- nippin' on the heels of Halloween. I think it's a sweet holiday and I love that we get to celebrate LOVE! I know lots of people hate Valentine's Day, and that's OK, I won't hold it against ya'.... No, really though, I like the colors and I think love and relationships and marriage are hard, and I think you deserve a day to celebrate it. It's a great thing, a wonderful thing, this thing called love, why not celebrate it? Now, do I think you have to go out and spend 100's of dollars to celebrate it? NO, of course not, but a hand written note and candy bar might go a long way to let someone know you're thinking about them. :)
Anyways, enough of that...this year we celebrated Valentine's Day with the girls the weekend before. We got them each a small little gift bag with a little bit of candy, a refillable cup with three nail polishes in it and a set to do pedicures, some hand sanitizers, a stuffed animal and a card. We had a sleepover on Saturday so they each got their bags on Saturday, we went to a movie and then to the mall where they each proceeded to shop they dropped! Sunday morning finished off with a Valentine's themed breakfast of triple layer, heart shaped, strawberry- Nutella stuffed french toast (enough adjectives?) and pink milk. OMG! These things were to die for!!
Valentine's Day led me to Zoe's class party (pics later) and then out to dinner that evening with my lover at Kyoto. We had reservations for Le Coq d'Or in Eagle at 8:30, but I had to drop the girls off at their dad's house to leave for Hawaii for two weeks and couldn't get myself pulled together. So then I didn't want to go. Louis was so sweet and did however convince me last minute to go to Kyoto and there was some snafu with the reservations list so we literally walked in put our name on the list and they just seated us....way ahead of people
with reservations. It was crazy but totally awesome!

I thought these were the cutest bags, and the best part- I got them at the dollar store. Score!! |

On Saturday afternoon we took them to see a movie. They all wanted to see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and it was still playing at the little local hole in that wall we like to call "the popcorn movie". It's called Overland Park Cinema and for $5 you get your movie and 2 coins to spend in the concession area. Basically you can get a movie, popcorn and coke or any other variation of candy, nachos, etc. Pretty good deal. AND we have the added benefit of not really caring if we end of walking out of the movie since it was only five bucks. :) |
