The BIG 3-0!!!

So....yesterday was my 30th birthday!! Unbelievable. It is so hard to imagine that I am already thirty years old. I guess it's time to finally grow up and become an adult. Something about the 20's still just screams immature, unsettled, unsure. The 30's are different- you've made your decisions and have a career, home, automobiles, etc. Hopefully less stressful. I'm hoping for that at least. Maybe it was just MY 20's that were a bit rough, but I've talked to several people and every single one of them said they wouldn't go back to their 20's for anything. My mom said she wouldn't go back before 35, that is when life really got good for her. I'm ready. Life is rocking right now, so I am off to a good start. :)

My birthday fell on Easter this year so I was prepared to share the glory with the Easter Bunny and Jesus, but Louis and the rest of my family and friends really tried hard to focus on me the few days prior to my actual birthday. Bottom line- with three kids, Easter is a must, but every effort was made to make me feel special.

The birthday extravaganza began on Friday. We dropped the girls off at school and then headed home. Louis and I hung out for a few minutes and then he left for work- it was time for me to get busy. I cruised over to Janjou and started my day with an Almond Croissant and a Chai. I can't stay away. This pastry shop is literally the best little place EVER! It reminds me of the pastries I got while in Paris, if not even better. The owners are so nice and their little shop is decorated so cute.

After Janjou I went to the mall. I needed to find a dress for the evening. As a birthday present, my mom bought us Wicked tickets and then offered for the girls to spend the night with her on Friday so we could go out to a nice dinner and then go see the show. I wanted a black dress that I could keep in the closet as a go to 'little black dress'. I needed one that would fit the girls....I have to admit, one of my favorite parts about the boob job is that I get to go buy all new clothes....it's been so much fun! Anyways, I wanted on that was classic, not really today's style, but one that I could have and keep for a while. It was hard to find. I finally found the perfect dress at Macy's. Black, knee length, sexy, but not TOO sexy. Perfect!! I already had a pair of black stiletto peep toe shoes that matched perfectly so that saved that piece of the puzzle, and I don't wear jewelry either so that was also something I didn't have to worry about. Dress and done! :)

Once I bought the dress it was time to head over to the nail salon. It was time to get not only my nails done, but also a pedicure as well. I had only had a pedicure one other time in my life, so it was such a nice treat! I was at the nail salon for 2 hours getting pampered. By the time I was done with that it was time to go home. Louis finished up work early and got home in time to go pick up the girls from school with me. We took them over to my moms and then went home to finish up getting ready. We both took showers and stuff and got ready. I put on my dress and he was pleased. He thought his lady was one hot mama and believe you me....I thought he was pretty darn hot himself. He is such a good looking man....mmmhmmm....

We had dinner reservations at Ruth's Chris at 6. Neither of us had ever been to one and we had both heard good things about them so we decided to give it a go. It is on the first floor of the new Zion Bank building down town, so it was super close to home and the Morrison Center where Wicked was. Nice to not have to drive out to BFE. Dinner was a-mazing. I had salad, filet mignon, garlic mashed potatoes and flourless chocolate sin cake. Louis had lobster bisque, ribeye, creamed spinach, and the same cake. We needed to rolled out of there. We both ate until we were popping our seams and STILL had food to take home.

Then it was off to see Wicked. I've wanted to see it for a while now, but have never been in a good location and had a good time or opportunity to make it work. When my mom bought the tickets to see it, I was super excited. Neither Louis nor I were disappointed. It was a great show. Funny and lighthearted, it told the story of the Wicked Witch-it tells the OTHER story of the Wizard of Oz basically. Great. I highly encourage you to see it if you haven't. Well worth it!

Saturday the extravaganza continued. Both of the girls had soccer games at nine and Louis had to go pick up Rachel at the same time. We finished up games and headed back to the house with the whole crew in tow. I decided since it was such a nice day outside that I wanted to have a picnic. We grabbed some sandwiches from Subway and headed down to Camel's Back Park. The girls ran and played and climbed the hill. We had a good time. It was such a beautiful day out. After we finished our lunch we went to Goody's for some ice cream. The girls all got ice cream cones and I'm a sucker for a banana split so I scarfed one of those down. Yes, I made a fool out of myself- I went face first into that sucker!! We dropped Rachel off at her moms house at 6 and then went out for dinner for the last meal of my 20's. I chose Chinese food so we went to Wok King- my favorite local hole in the wall. So yummy. After we got home and got the girls settled I went to Old Navy. I was sent to get some clothes. I wound up with a dress, a jacket and a shirt...then to Target. I didn't buy anything at Target. I'm so picky with my clothes these days. Not that I'm a clothes snob because I'm truly not, but I HATE the style these days. The 'aztec' print, the fringe, the neon colors- I don't really like any of it. Hard to find clothes to buy if you cant find anything you like!

Sunday morning I was wakened by the most wonderful thing ever. The bedroom door opened, the singing began, and in came my lover and my precious little ladies with breakfast in bed. Sweet, sweet Bella had been up all morning trying to get things together to make me pancakes. She got up on the counter and got out three cookbooks until she found the recipe she wanted. She read it and got all the necessary ingredients out and in line and then wrote Louis a note and slid it under our bedroom door wanting to know where the measuring cups were. He snuck downstairs, without waking me up, helped her and Zo make pancakes, ran over to Human Bean to pick up my large Hazelnut latte with double the hazelnut and no foam (of which he remembered my very specific likes), set up a tray, and brought it up to me. Bella had even picked a flower for me out of the neighbor's garden. Yes, she was told she couldn't do that, but her little heart was in the right place. I wanted to cry, it was seriously the sweetest thing ever.  He then took the two of them to pick up Rachel from her moms and then took them to Freddy's. They needed to get some stuff together for 'something'. I took the opportunity to take a nice long bath and relax. Checked facebook and email, thanked people for my b-day wishes and cruised around looking at stuff. After I got out of the tub, they were all home and I was sent out to the mall to get a birthday/Easter outfit. I headed over, just to find out the mall was closed. Seriously??? The mall, closed on Easter?? Crazy! I had already been basically all over trying to find something. I stopped at Freddy's on the way home and found a really cute dress, so that is what I wound up with. I came home and got ready with my new dress, got the girls all done up in their Easter outfits and did the Easter thing. The girls found their baskets from the bunny and then we hid eggs at my moms. I opted for a BBQ versus the traditional ham, potatoes etc we normally do. It was so nice out, why not. We threw some London broil on, had some funeral potatoes, sour dough bread, spinach salad, and a really yummy tropical cake. We had some family friends over as well, so it was really a pretty low key celebration. The girls made me the most awesome card...it is huge. They separated it into three sections and went to town. It was awesome. Louis also got me a card...it was so sweet. Seriously, probably the sweetest card I've ever received- he is such an amazing man and I'm so lucky to have him.

All in all it was AMAZING. It was by far the BEST birthday I have ever had. I appreciate all the thought and effort that went into it by everyone and am shocked that I have so many wonderful friends and family in my life. Once again, thanks to everyone!!
My cute little piggies. It was such a treat to get a pedicure. They had massaging chairs and the warm water on your feet, they did a sugar scrub as well. It was HEAVEN!

The dress I found at Macys. Exactly what I was looking for.

Getting ready to head to Wicked.

I came out ofbmy room and found this- Rachel had made me a Happy Birthday sign.

Zoe has spent the last few months making presents for me. Cards, presents, snack packs. She has been stockpiling gifts for a while. :)

Chinese food!

My breakfast in bed, complete with a bunny pancake for Easter.

This picture is sideways- sorry. This is what Louis' parents sent me- a chocolate cookbook- yummy!, a super cute tie dye shirt, and a darling bag she made.
