Check In

Just a little check in from the last little bit. Not really a ton to report. We finally are back in the swing of things after getting all the girls back from their vacations. Kids just bounce back and pick right back up where they left off. Adults aren't quite that fortunate. :) We made it though.

Louis bought my furniture for me and we finally got it delivered about a week ago. We love it. I want to get tables- we just got the couch and loveseat- maybe this weekend. They had a 'room' set up at the furniture store that had a nice old world style coffee table and side table, the top opens and the halves slide apart to provide storage inside, which would be great to store blankets or games or whatever, and it looked really nice set up with the couches, but the next set up over had a little bit lighter, more modern looking set. We both really liked both of the sets, but I think we are leaning towards the old world set. It just matches the couches better and I like the storage capability.  There was one factor that was going to hold me back from getting them, but then I decided- ya know what....I'm 30 years old...if I want them I'm going to get them, despite what others may think. I spent last weekend looking for throw pillows. I went to every store imaginable- Fred Meyer, Target, Bed Beth and Beyond, Amazon and who knows where else, and finally found pillows I like. I bought all of them online so I haven't seen any of them in person and am really hoping they all work out and go together as good as I think they will. I'm hoping the room pieces together nicely. We have not chosen new room art, accessories, or a rug, but the colors are fairly neutral and I think they will be easy to decorate around. We will see I guess. I also bought a table lamp. We don't have lamps in our house which is weird. It will be nice to have some mellow lighting versus either darkness or fluorescent light. Polar opposites. :) It is an oil rubbed bronze lamp with a square shaped oatmeal colored shade. It matches the middle pillow that I bought for the big couch, so I'm thinking it will tie things together.

The other day I was taking a nap and Louis came in a woke me up with this (sorry the pics are sideways and stuff)

he handed me a red envelope, which quite obviously contained a card and something else in it

It was a super cute little card with two people walking with hearts on it

inside the card was a disc with a note tucked inside. He didn't write anything inside the card, but it read you are my love, past, present, and future, as he puts it- that says a lot and said it all for him! :)

There is a new dubstep song by the pegboard nerds out called Hero, and it is one of my new faves, but like most dubstep, it is fairly hard and laserish.  He took about 4-5 different versions of it, including the Russian version, and remixed it into a light dubstep love song for me. It was absolutely the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me. The note tucked inside was the lyrics and then he hand wrote a little note with the most special lyric written: "you and I will stand and fight, our backs to the wall" This gift came at the best time- I needed it. He is very sweet and does a lot of cool things for me. For example he is sculpting me a female Robin costume, like from the movie Batman. As most of you know, Louis has been sculpting for a while now, it all started while living in Seattle and really took off. As a matter of fact he worked on sculpting the costumes for the Batman movies with Christian Bale. We have a bust of Christian Bale's head at our house that Louis had to sculpt on to ensure the costumes once molded in silicone would fit him. I'm sure many a lady would like that bust. We also have autographed pictures and stuff, it's cool, but anyways the point is he is making me that, he made me a leather trunk with our initials in it, a leather jewelry box, a shopping list thing, a book, and the list goes on. He is always leaving me notes and doodles around the house or to come home to or whatever, but this was just really, really special.

We bought the girls a new wii game, called wii party u, and it is awesome. It has all these interactive games that are for 1-4 players, which is fantastic when you have three kids. the games are really fun and there are like a crazy amount of mini games you play while playing the main games. Super fun if you haven't tried, check it out.

all four of my children getting into it....

wait a minute...where'd the other one go?? :)

The girls and I like to go out to breakfast. It is probably my favorite meal to go out. I'm a pretty good cook if I do say so myself, so most of the time lunch and dinner out is good, but not nearly as good as at  home, but its just more convenient. Don't get me confused- not always, but generally. However, there is just something different about going out to breakfast. I cant cook hash browns to save my life, so maybe t hats part of it, but we really enjoy it. So the girls and I went to IHOP and had a nice breakfast together while Louis was at work.

This is a really great little recipe for summer. I use it as a chip dip which is great for a snack or lite lunch or dinner. Really no real recipe- just cut and add to your personal taste. Avocado, tomato, garlic, corn, olive oil, salt and pepper and fresh lime juice.

Last Saturday the girls did the children's twilight criterium bike ride with Kristin Armstrong. She is an Olympic gold medal winner that lives here in Boise. She signed autographs and then led them all around the track. It was so great!! All three girls went, but poor little Rachel got a migraine and by the time the ride started, she was basically vomiting and couldn't ride. The other two were able to make it and had an absolute blast however.
