Happy 4th of July

Hope you all had a safe and happy 4th of July.  I am completely amused by exactly how "American" this holiday actually is...we all eat and stuff our faces....that seems to hold up to the obese American standard and then we drink and start blowing stuff up...yup 'Merica baby... anyways, not to lose sight of the true meaning of the holiday, I am grateful to all the men and women who have served this country, some losing their own lives, in order that the rest of us may enjoy the freedoms we have all come to take for granted. I hope you all got the chance to spend time with family and friends, have some fun and to truly reflect on the true meaning of the holiday.

We spent the first part of out day not doing a whole lot. We chilled out and slept in. Straightened up the house a little bit, played a little bit of the wii, and then decided it was time to get outta the house for a little bit before we headed out to our friend's party. We went over to Bown Crossing and had some lunch at the Boise Fry Company and then went over to Hastings and looked around for a little bit. At this point my head was starting to pound so we headed home so mama could take a little mid day siesta. I finally woke up at about 5:15 and by that time it was time to head over to our 4th of July party.

We went over to Marcie and Cole's house and there were probably about 15 people there by the time it was all said and done. There ended up being 5 kids which was great- when you have several children like that, they end up basically baby sitting themselves. They all had a blast...ha, no pun intended!! Marcie set up a slip n slide, a little pool, water balloons and water guns. I'm not sure who was worse- the boys or the kids with the water balloons! :)

Anyways, everyone brought a dish to share and then Marcie and Cole grilled up steak and chicken kebobs, burgers, hot dogs and salmon patties. There was a TON of food. Marcie also made a watermelon cake for dessert, which apparently is a big pinterest thing right now, but I never go on pinterest these days so I was amazed when I saw it! :)

After dinner it was time to start the explosions. We probably had over 500$ in fireworks by the time it was all said and done between everyone that brought some, plus the people that lived across the street, one of the people over there ran a firework stand and basically had everything leftover that didn't sale. The firework lighting lasted for hours!!

We managed to get home and got the girls in bed by 11:30, not too bad for all the excitement!!
