I'm soooo done planning this wedding. Seriously. I'm over it. :)
But really.....it's a lot of work. Even more money. Even more stress. UGH. It's all coming along quite swimmingly, I must say, but I'm ready to say I DO and ready to hit the beaches of Punta Cana.
The girls are all doing quite well. Bella and Zoe are out of school June 2 and Rachel follows a few weeks after that I believe.
Our summer is looking quite bleak. I REALLY wanted to go somewhere awesome with the girls this summer, but, that's not going to happen, we're going to have to wait. Unfortunately, the finances are telling us to.... :( Sometimes it's lame trying to adult, but we are paying for this wedding, which is way too much money, plus socking away at least $1000 a month into savings.
Anyways, I'm determined to pay for the wedding without touching our savings account. We're paying for all of it ourselves of course, so that is going to be quite the accomplishment IF we can do it....so far so good. Pretty much all of the big money items like catering, photography, venue, honey moon and that kind of stuff is done. We do still need to get our wedding bands, but I think that's the last real big ticket item left.
This summer isn't going to be too bad for the girls however,we do have some things lined up for the next few months- they are going to San Francisco for a week, then about a month later they're off to Austin, TX for another week. We're, of course, going to go to Yellowstone again this year and then we are going to try to do a quick, cheap little trip to Salt Lake and Lagoon in August. Mi madre and I are planning on taking the ladies to Portland in late August or early September for a shopping trip for some school clothes and to just b- bop around. I love Portland.
Then, before you know it, is October and the wedding and we get our chance finally to go on a real vacation. The first one Louis and I have had in what seems like forever. In February, the ladies are going to Hawaii. Their dad is getting married, so they're going to be island hopping for almost 2 weeks. So, while the cat is away the mice will play....that being Louis and I....are going to go on vacation as well- either Fiji or Barbados. Barbados is cheaper. Fiji is prettier. Barbados isn't THAT much cheaper, nor is Fiji THAT much prettier, so it's a toss up. Louis and I have decided we're going to go on a big trip every February. Get out of Boise and the inversion.
We've also started very casually shopping mortgage companies and getting pre-qualification stuff going. Not preapproval, prequalification, there's a difference. I wanted a ball park figure of what we were looking at. I got an email yesterday and about choked- they gave us two numbers, a conservative and an aggressive- the majority of the houses Ive been looking at, are literally HALF the CONSERVATIVE amount they gave us. I'm thinking they need to tighten their lending requirements or something. We make good money, but the amount they gave us was astronomical. I guess it's feasible if you want to do nothing but pay for a house, but that's not really my thing (*plus, within a year or two, I probably won't even be working anymore, more on that later!), but we like to go out and do things and buy stuff, and I guarantee you, once I get a new house, I'm gonna want new furniture to go in that house. I've been so patient and not buying things like new bedroom sets that I really want, just waiting for this day. Just waiting!!!!
We're starting to look at houses..nothing serious, we're not looking to
build/buy until Spring at the very earliest, and even that's probably
pushing it, but we're browsing, looking at areas, checking out different
builders and stuff. I have an idea in my mind of what I'm thinking,
but bringing it to fruition is another thing.Needless to say, due to the vacation in February and the cost of that, will play a roll in the home buying process. Like I already said, I'm not sure we're going to be ready in the spring anyways, so far there is nothing I've seen that's just been mind blowing, but I do know for a fact, that there are going to be some great places this summer and fall, especially over in the Harris Ranch area, which is we're we've really been looking the most. It's close to my parents and we really like that area. Who knows!! :)
Other than that, things are pretty status quo around here. Louis has been super busy at work. He was recently approached by facebook to do some work for them. Apparently they're bringing some project to Boise and are looking for three people to help them and they sought him out. Actually, they found me. At work. Some random lade showed up at the clinic with her name and business care and information on the job and asked me to give it to him and have him call her. She had already called him and he hadn't returned her call. Weird. At least, I thought so, but apparently this 'poaching' business happens all the time in the tech world...who knew. He is not really interested however, so there's that.
Alright friends, that's all I have for you...off to lunch with my girls!
