Uruguay Date Night

Ok, so I don't even have an explanation...we visited Uruguay in July......

Anyways, I only got a few pictures and they are quite lack luster unfortunately. Sorry guys! :)

If you are ever in the need of a pick me up or a reminder that good still exists, please read up on  José “Pepe” Mujica. He is one remarkable man and the president of Uruguay for almost 5 years.  Perhaps our American leaders could learn a thing or two......

Uruguay is a South American country known for its verdant interior and beach-lined coast. The capital, Montevideo, revolves around Plaza Independencia, once home to a Spanish citadel. It leads to Ciudad Vieja (Old City), with art deco buildings, colonial homes and Mercado del Puerto, an old port market with many steakhouses. La Rambla, a waterfront promenade, passes fish stalls, piers and parks.
Native language: Spanish, Portuguese, Uruguayan Sign Language and Portuñol.

For dinner we had one of Louis' favorite things in this whole world...a sammich.... :)
We made a classic CHIVITO. Chivito: a sandwich containing steak, ham, cheese, tomato, lettuce, and mayonnaise
served it with cole slaw and fries and get this...fry sauce. Apparently it's huge over there but they call it salsa golf....crazy. :) Some of you reading this may not get this sentence at all.....in that case google fry sauce, make it and thank me later.
For dessert I made a cake called Chajá (postre) (es): a dessert with meringue, sponge cake, "Chajá" cream and peaches. It is created by a well known firm in the city of Paysandú

Food was awesome. :)
