Preparing for the feast- Thanksgiving 2016

This year, like almost every other year in the past, Thanksgiving was hosted by my mamacita.  Her house is really better for this kind of thing- she has the dual wall ovens I envy so much, as well as all the other serving plates, napkins, etc etc that you seem to accumulate through the years.  I have some, but not enough for the small army we call family...so, it was at my moms. Anyways, I was on pie duty as well as stuffing and mashed potatoes.  No problem...I got this!!

I made five pies this year: coconut cream, lemon meringue, dutch apple, and of course pumpkin and pecan.  I make my crust the day before that way I can have it wrapped in plastic and ready to just roll out the next day as I need them.

The mashed potatoes are also made the day before and then just put in a casserole dish to be baked only for about 30 minutes or enough to warm through.

Pretty much same with the stuffing.  I've never been a fan of placing the stuffing inside the turkey....so, we have always made ours and just baked it, but please feel free to stuff that bird if that is what YOU enjoy!

all the stuff...getting ready!

this is called a pie bag.  Google it and buy yourself at least 10!

there may or may not be 4 sticks of butter and 2 blocks of cream cheese in 10 pounds of potatoes....lets not talk about all the cream that went in later....
